Want to make a 3D Video Game? Here are some of the tools to get you started!
Software
Simply click on the logo buttons to be directed to the software download page for program files and installation steps.
Godot 3.2
Godot is a totally 100% free, cross-platform game engine that allows users to develop both 2D and 3D games, and even exports to mobile devices! (Only Android applications can be installed easily, and for free)
Blender 2.82
Blender is an amazing 3D Modelling and Animation software that is available for free to download and use on Windows/MacOS/Linux devices.
For a program that is available for free, it has the same capabilities as its more recognized, industry-grade counterpart, Autodesk Maya.
Blender also comes with a built-in game engine which we use for our 3D Game Design camp.
Supporting Files
If you need a little help getting started on your next feature film, here are some supporting files to get you on track.
Byte Camp Blender Setup
This is the default set up for Byte Camp itself so for students who are more used to our summer camp set up than the default version, feel free to download and save this file.
To set it as your default, open the save file, go to File > Save Startup File. Now every time you open up Blender, it will be that default set up. Happy Blendering!
Mini GDD
Having troubles organizing your ideas for your game? Download and print the Mini GDD and scribble/doodle all of your ideas to keep track of them.
